Web
Site Content - What Do I Put On My Site?
-
I've
made my decision - I want you to design my web site. Now what do
I do?
Why do I need a
website?
Simply put, websites are a ridiculously affordable and very
effective way to market and showcase your business. Unlike the other
marketing strategies, websites are inexpensive, are accessible from
anywhere in the world, and carry much more information than a
full-page listing yellow page listing. Unlike brochures, you won’t
have any printing and distribution costs, and your website is easily
updated with the changes of your business.
Your website will increase public awareness about your company. The
Internet is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Potential and current
customers are able to learn about your products and services at
their own convenience in an interactive and exciting manner. Also,
your employees won’t waste needless time on the phone answering
frequently asked questions or faxing & mailing menus or brochures.
Your Website will immediately address common issues.
Consumers today demand any company worth doing business with to not
only have a website, but a current and professional website at
that. They see it as a sign of credibility and professionalism. As
long as your site is well-designed, your website is sure to put your
business in the same league as larger competitors. <BACK

How much will this cost?
Naturally, when deciding to advertise your business online, one of
your first questions will be directed to the costs associated with
designing, hosting, and maintaining your website. Let's look at
designing your website in the same respect as designing and building
a house. It would be silly to ask a homebuilder to quote you a
price for a house without first assessing your wants and needs...do
you want a 3 bedroom brick home, or 4 bedroom two-story stucco
home? How many square feet? Do you want standard lighting or
chandeliers in the living areas....etc. Like a homebuilder, Rhino
Web Studios must first understand what you want to accomplish with
your website, how many pages you require to accomplish this goal, if
you want flash headers, video production and streaming integration,
photo galleries, database applications, if you want an e-commerce
website to sell products, or do you require a content management
website, and most importantly, WHAT IS YOUR BUDGET?
Rhino Web Studios' goal, after receiving this information, will be
to develop a website strategy to properly administer to all of your
business needs and desires while fitting comfortably in your
financial constraints. We understand that not every business has a
ten thousand dollar website budget...that's ok! Tell us where we
need to be, and we will endeavor to design a program that is just
right for you...and your budget.

What is a URL?
It stands for
"universal resource locator". This is the address typed in to view
your web page on the Internet. For example, you would type in the
address bar: http://www.rhinopm.com to access our home page.
<BACK TO TOP>
What is a domain?
A domain name is
a specific web site address that you choose and register with a
domain registrar. For example, our domain is "rhinopm.com".
You can register a domain through Rhino Web Studios by clicking
HERE.

What is website hosting?
Think of your website as a house, then it will be easy to understand
hosting by thinking of it as renting the land (or space) that your
house will reside. Like a computer has a finite amount of memory
space, so does the server (another name for the computer that links
your website to the internet). Space on the server is "leased" to
our clients in yearly contracts. You will have the option to pay
for your site's hosting either monthly, quarterly, or yearly. The
average website's hosting package on our servers costs about $20.00
per month, although larger sites can be a little more, and parked
domains rate out at $4.99 per month.
Rhino Web Studios offers website hosting to accommodate any
situation and website. Smaller plans for small websites to the
"Rhino Diamond Hosting Package" for our Larger database driven and
e-commerce websites. Your account manager will assess your websites
needs and start you off with the hosting package that should best
suit your needs. This package can be upgraded at a later date to
meet the demands of your growing website and its online popularity.
Our website hosting plan chart can be seen
HERE, and purchased online

Does Rhino re-design existing websites?
Many of our clients come to us with websites that were designed in
the late 1990's or early 2000's, or by a friend or family member -
and although at that time, it may have been a "cutting edge"
website, websites by today's standards simply make these older
websites look amateurish and unprofessional. Your website is
your 24 hours a day, 7 days a week salesman that does not stop to
rest, eat, or sleep. Imagine sending a salesman on a sales call
wearing a 1970's polyester leisure suit. Your potential customers
would view your salesman (and your company) as being not as advanced
as your competitors who do have modern and updated websites.
Oftentimes, all an old website needs is a little added flair, a
video, or flash header to bring it back to life. Rhino Web Studios
is available not only for full website design, but also site
re-designs and changes. Please call Rhino Web Studios at
504-875-5036 for a free consultation today.

Will my website be optimized for search engine ranking?
There are many things that we do to and code into a website during
its creation to optimize it for acceptable search engine rankings.
Some of these things include:
-
The website "Title" will be carefully worded for optimal results
ON EVERY PAGE
-
proper meta tag coding and placement
-
keyword selection and placement
-
text links (instead of just flash or picture links)
-
NO FRAMES PAGES (on important pages, anyway)
-
NO FLASH INTROS (we do not recommend them, but will design one
to make a client happy)
-
(optional) Overture (Yahoo!) & Google premium search results
(added expense)

Can I be guaranteed top search engine placement?
Every search engine company uses different methods of determining
the rank or score of a website for placement, and these methods
change often. There is only one way that you can be guaranteed top
placement in the search engines. That is to pay Overture (www.overture.com)
which handles Yahoo's search engine sponsored search marketing, or
Google's Adwords. Depending on your keywords, type of
business, and your internet competition, this could be very cost
effective, or very VERY Expensive. Please consult with someone in
our sales & support office to set up a meeting to discuss your
options.

What is my cPanel?
cPanel (or your control panel) is a
graphical web-based management tool, designed to make administration
of your web site as easy as possible. C Panel handles all aspects of
website administration in an easy-to-use interface. As a Rhino Web
client, you will enjoy front end graphical support for a number of
common operations like the management of PGP keys, cron jobs, mail
and FTP accounts, and mailing lists. A file browser similar to
Windows Explorer is also included. It does for web hosting
management what windows did for DOS.

How do I log in to my cPanel?

What is site maintenance?
Maintenance is a
fee paid monthly to keep your site updated with new content that you
provide. Most good web sites have new content updated regularly.
Fresh content is what will keep your visitors coming back.
<BACK TO TOP>
How long will it
take to finish my site?
Our average a medium sized site takes
from 3 to 4 weeks to complete, but some sites have been built in
LESS THAN ONE WEEK! If you desire your website to be complete
quickly, here are a few pointers to follow:
Being
prepared can make the difference between being done in a week or a
month!
<BACK TO TOP>
Can I see my website's current hits and
statistics?
Yes. Log in to your cPanel and
click the Web/FTP Stats Icon. From here there
are many statistics scripts installed. How do you log in to
cPanel? See Above.
<BACK TO TOP>
Do you offer any type
of discounts?
We offer
discounts for schools and non profit organizations.
<BACK TO TOP>
Why can't I find my web site
in the search engines?
Once your site
has been submitted to the top Search Engines, they may require
several weeks or even months to actually be 'crawled' by a 'spider'
and list your web site in their directory. How fast your site is
listed depends on each individual Search Engines database update
schedule. Watch your server traffic logs for visiting spiders. Your
site can be listed on AOL, MSN, Overture in a couple of days. Call
Rhino Web Studios at 504-875-5036 for more information.

Web Site Content - What Do I Put On My
Site?
That would depend
on the goals of your web site. If you run a business website you
would include as much information about your products or services
that your customers would need to purchase from you. The
amount of content you include in your website has a direct effect on
your website's search engine ranking.
